On Echoes

Liberal monkeys?

Over the past couple of days the Guardian has been covering the Liberal conference, with the added edginess of interactivity. So I took the opportunity to ask Julian Glover and Tim Farron the following questions:

What do you think about C & C Alpha Group, who own Alpha Hospitals, donating 200,000 pounds to the LibDems in Q2 of 2011, coming as it did in the run up to debating NHS reforms?

Or that the fact the LibDems still accept donations at all from C & C Alpha Group given its connection to an arms deal scandal?

And…….. as yet nothing. Despite having posted in 5 or 6 times in various conference related related threads.

Infact the only reply of any kind I got was from yahyah

DigbyCC@

Repeat it as often as you can.

I asked my Lib Dem MP to comment on it after he responded to my concerns that he abstained from the NHS vote the other week.
His email was a wonderful example of obfuscation.

Haven’t had a reply from him about the £200,000 yet, probably never will !

So Guardian journalists if you’re reading this – neither refuting or denying the issue could be taken as tacit admission or worse agreement with the issue.

To everyone else – here’s the thing, this might be innocent, but the lack of reply either way suggests not, so here’s something easy to do that won’t require you to run the risk of being kettled, ask the questions. The more people asking the more we can pressure for an answer – and here they are again:

Update 19th September

After having posted numerous times yesterday, (how many I hear you ask?) oe of the questions was picked up today but through other posters in the thread repeating it, so I wondered if there was something wrong with my posting style:

btw is there a good way to format questions so the get picked up?

I posted the questions on C&C Alpha several times yesterday, and once to day to see it finally taken up when someone else re-posted it, so perhaps I wasn’t being clear enough, that I wasn’t making a general comment on the thread?

DigbyChickenCeasar – give writers a bit of time, will ya? They’re running around and not glued to their computers all the time. I sent them the question, hopefully they’ll reply when they have a minute.

Unfortunately Jessica’s optimism was unfounded, nothing was forth coming. Still there’s always tomorrow.

Digby – I just cut and paste your questions on the Guardian FibDem Conference rolling blog comments – waiting to see what’ll happen (if anything!)

As members of the Guardian’s board act as or are lobbyist why not lobby journalists? This could be initiated by gathering signatories for a petition…..

    …here.

Also with help from friends why not start submitting articles yourself (inc graphics)?

Digby – anything as yet? ‘Cos I can’t see it, if there is!
